A fews weeks ago I had the opportunity to travel around New York State for a variety of reasons: conference, family visit, and a Justin Timberlake concert! One was to Lake Placid, one to Albany, and one to Syracuse. It was fall and it was a beautiful time of the year. My family and I remarked at the beautiful colors of the trees on the different mountain sides. The variety of colors that you see during this time of the year: green, yellow, red, orange, & some dark burgundy. Just beautiful. It is the magic of putting all of those different colors together in the right setting that made them look beautiful. It is the differences that we are attracted as all of the trees blend together. The trip to Lake Placid, NY (beautiful by the way) was a leadership conference for school administrators. Looking at the trees in the quiet of my car made me think about working with others. Sometimes we may get frustrated by others differences, yet when you put all those differences together and it can be beautiful. It’s what makes the world go round. We should not try to make others conform or do things more like how we might do it. Let them do it and celebrate they way they do it. Celebrating the differences of others & promoting those differences all while working towards a common goal can be a beautiful thing sometimes as the leader step back and enjoy the view. Happy holidays to you, your family and your schools.
