Another mindset I like to use is one from sales and it’s called the 5 SW’s: sometimes it will, sometimes it won’t, so what, someone’s waiting, and stick with it. I love these five simple phrases. They are so true and fit into so many of the scenarios that we face as educators, parents, and people trying to do good things in our world. Not everybody’s going to like your ideas, and not everything is gonna work all the time. So what, stick with it because someone’s waiting. The last one might seem a little silly or even juvenile, but it works. Self-talk is one of the most powerful confidence-building things you can do. Dr. Gilbert has shared this many times on his success hotline and I have adopted it and made it my own. Take your thumb and touch it to your first finger, your pointer finger. Say the letter I. Next take your thumb and touch the tip of your middle finger and say the word can. Next, take your thumb touch the tip of your ring finger and say do, and lastly your thumb to your pinky and say the word this. I can do this. Repeat this as often as necessary. Whether you are going to give a big presentation, have a big project, or just are facing a challenge tell yourself that you can do this. I can do this. If you don’t believe you can, then who will? Keep rolling everyone and if I can help you with anything, please do not hesitate to ask. Wishing you a great end of the school year and a wonderful summer. I know there are still many questions out there about school in our country so keep rolling! _______________ Quote of the day: “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.” – Theodore Roosevelt |
