#ELBlog #157: There’s No Jokes!
After a quick trip to Walmart the other day, my daughter broke open the box of Go-Gurt’s before getting home. (If you’ve never heard of Go-Gurt, it’s flavored yogurt in a tube.) As they opened their Go-Gurt, my youngest daughter Tessa, yelled out, “there are no jokes?” My oldest, Claire, concurred with disappointment saying, “omg Tessa there’s no jokes!” We love the jokes. The jokes that typically come printed on the tubes are family-friendly silly questions and answers. Such as: Why didn’t the kid want to go ice-fishing? He was afraid he’d catch a cold.
These points jump out of me as blogs to write about. It’s funny how now, more than ever, people are looking to laugh. No matter what you’re doing, no matter what the task, or in this case what you’re eating, people are still looking to laugh. How can we as leaders, infuse humor and laughter into the work we are doing? Well, not every situation calls for a laugh, however, if you find opportunities to make people laugh, they will enjoy it. While my daughters were hungry and looking forward to the taste of Go-Gurt, they also always enjoy the laugh that comes with the packaging and experience.
So my challenge to you today is: how can you infuse laughter and a light joke in your work? Additionally Go-Gurt, where are the jokes? Keep rolling everyone. Let me know how I can support you? #SurviveThrive
