Over the course of the past winter and spring, we had a tremendous amount of snow in the Northeast. During that time, I took a series of photos of a decorative cruiser bike that sits in our front driveway. This is the area where we take our dog out and spend some time relaxing and sitting on the porch
As the bike lay there almost completely covered in snow I thought to myself, wouldn’t it be nice to be in the warm sun and go for a bike ride? It certainly was not the time during the winter months, but again, looking ahead I knew that time would come. I decided to take these pictures as the snow began to melt and as the season started to change. It got me thinking about how many times in our lives that we want something right then and there, but we can’t have it yet. We’re not there yet, it isn’t time yet. Growing up as the youngest of four, I had this experience quite often. When was it my turn to go on that trip? When was it my turn to drive the car? When was it my turn to get married? The answer quite often was not yet, and again I learned to wait. I learned to wait my turn. As I waited through these winter months, I yearned for the time of the warmth of the sun and to be able to ride my bike once again. The answer was again not yet. The sun and the warmth would return, but it wasn’t
yet time.
What are the things in your life that you’re looking to achieve and it’s not yet time. How can you work towards them a little bit at a time? Because each day was a little warmer, the snow began to melt. Each day was one day closer to the spring, until finally now there are daffodils. Clearly, I’m not riding this display bike, but we will be sitting out on the porch and enjoying the sun as yes, now, finally it is time. I can feel the warmth of the sun on my face in the wind as I pedal along on my own bike.
So, while the answer might be no, how can you make the answer not yet. Not yet gives you hope. Not yet gives you a light, not yet helps you believe that one day that thing that you were waiting for, that you want, will come. Keep rolling!
My best to you on your journey and if I can help you in any way don’t hesitate to reach out. Keep rolling everyone! #SurviveThrive
