My good friend and mentor Dr. Rob Gilbert held a memory seminar on four consecutive Saturdays back in October. Those who attended were taught a strategy and skill to help memorize all 46 Presidents. During the third Saturday, we listened to the seminar in the car while we were driving. We lost reception often and it was difficult to concentrate, but I was able to get the gist of it. The following Saturday my youngest daughter, Tessa (10), participated in the seminar. She loved it. She had a great time doing it, and did indeed learn the strategy to memorize all 46 presidents.
I’ve heard Dr. Gilbert say multiple times that it’s not a memory seminar but an imagination seminar. I wasn’t really sure what he meant by this at the time. However, after hearing most of the seminar and seeing my daughter complete it, it wasn’t about sitting there and just memorizing the Presidents. It was about using your imagination to create a story with words and names that created a link to the President’s names. Dr. Gilbert in a fun and imaginative way brought his audience in by creating, telling, and repeating a fun story linked to the names.
If you know me, you know I love the power of storytelling and here’s just another example of the power of stories. Tessa was able to tell a story that night, as well as the next day, and still be able to name the 46 Presidents. This is such a valuable skill that can be used in so many places. Thank you Dr. Gilbert for all the ways you continue to help people. If you don’t know Dr. Gilbert, or you don’t call the Success Hotline, I highly recommend you begin. The Success Hotline number is 973-743-4690.
He has said on the hotline many times, who knew that three minutes a day could change your life. I have been calling the hotline for six years now and he certainly has changed my life in so many positive ways. I am extremely grateful to the great Dr. Rob Gilbert! Keep rolling friends.
