My oldest daughter and I have been driving a lot together since she got her permit back in the fall. We’ve been practicing on highways, in parking lots, at night, and in bad weather. We’re touching all the bases and getting her prepared to get her driver’s license.
On a recent excursion, we were talking about safety issues of the car, she questioned me “why does it matter?” My answer to her was that it all mattered. All of these safety issues around driving a car: slowing down into a curve, extra time with your blinker, using your brakes while cars are approaching, over-communicating at a four-way stop sign, proper distance between cars, etc. etc. etc. If you’re an experienced driver, you know the list can go on and on. I told her it all matters.
It’s like leadership. Is it just one thing or is it all of them combined? What makes those special leaders that we all admire? What is that one characteristic, or is it a special combination of all of the things that they do that make them a great leader? Is it just one thing that you do that makes you a safe driver, or is it a combination of all of the safety items and actions you take as a safe driver?
It all matters. Keep practicing the great actions of leaders that you do each and every day. It makes a difference and we need great leaders like you.
Amazingly, it is that time already for booking summer leadership, retreats, and district openings. I would love to be your speaker this summer, or next fall. Please reach out and we’ll connect. Keep surviving and thriving! #SurviveThrive.
