#ELBlog #254:
Getting a perspective shift:
Lessons from the family pet.
Hi friends…Meet Dana Battaglia. I met Dana on my writing seminar (view here: WRITE MY BOOK SEMINAR #3 – Andrew Marotta (https://andrewmarotta.com/write-my-book-seminar-3/) ) held in January 2023. She was engaged, enthused, and ‘into’ the whole seminar. We connected right away in several areas, including both being NYers. I was thrilled she guest wrote this blog. Enjoy! Thanks Dana and best on your journey.

Getting a perspective shift: Lessons from the family pet
I have a very busy brain. And today is the day. I’m going back to work after having the most amazing and special time with my family. We really didn’t do much. Day one (of being idle) was a little hard for me. But then I got used to it. Really, REALLY used to it. As I was preparing for our little family to return to the school and work routine, I began to get stressed. Laying out clothes, packing lunches, etc. Who feels me?
And then…. our 95 pound rescue pup got sick. This threw me for a loop… I had to drop everything and take him to the vet, and give him some extra TLC. I was so frustrated, feeling like I had yet another thing I have to do. So we spent the day taking care of our Dukey, talking, snuggling, laughing, and reminiscing on the week together.
Which got me thinking…. This is the stuff that I GET to do. It’s not the stuff that I “have” to do. While yes, managing all of the things is a must. BUT… There are opportunities everywhere of you seek them.
I GET to take care of my family. I GET to take care of my dog. I GET to go to work a job that fills me every day. Yes I *have* to do these things. But perspective shift is everything. Changing that perspective this week in real time changed everything. Wishing everyone a great week!
By the way, our fur baby will be fine. He just required a little more love, patience, and kindness.
Thank you, Dukey, for the life lesson during a tender moment.
