We are fortunate enough to have an elliptical in our basement with a small workout area. It’s a great spot for my family and me to get exercise right in our very own home. As part of my daily routine, I’m on the elliptical at least three or four times a week. I try to keep moving and keep rolling.
While I’m there I find that I’m keeping my eye on the numbers. Speed, calories burned, time, etc. The number that keeps coming back to me is calories per hour. I’m trying to keep that level of speed, revolutions per minute over 1000. Sometimes if I lose focus or maybe I’m just not feeling so great the number dips below into the 900s or even 800s. I’m not pushing myself hard enough. I’m not hitting the level that I want to be at.
I was thinking about this in my head on my drive to work after my workout one morning. It reminded me that I have to continue to push myself in all areas of my life, starting with my own personal health and growth followed quickly by support and presence for my family. I need to keep those levels high. I need to keep those levels moving up and it’s a constant challenge.
Making an impact at school, writing, creative posts, making awesome keynote and workshop presentations, being enthused and energetic, and so on. There are many areas in my life that I’m looking to keep at a high level, including one of peace and calm.
Keep working at it. It’s never perfect and out of whack many times. I heard someone say recently that they’re not trying to have a life-work balance, but have more harmony. Have harmony in these areas of your life.
I agree. Keep the level high, keep pushing, and continuously push for harmony in these areas of your life. If I can help you in anyway, don’t hesitate to reach out at @andrewmarotta21 on Twitter or email@example.com. Keep rolling friends!
