I broke my ribs back in the March of ‘23. It was a terrible time. It felt like I was paralyzed and just could not move. I slipped on some black ice, and had the dog’s leash in my hand as we were on a walk. I fell directly on my back, cracked four ribs, and punctured my lung.
It put me out of whack in so many ways and it took me a long time to recover. I missed being physically active. I missed being able to move, run, walk, exercise, and more. It put me in a bit of a funk. Even after five or six months, when I was finally able to move again, it was slow going. I had lost so much strength due to the injury. I couldn’t exercise like I used to.
How was I going to regain my strength? How was I going to get back in shape. I started with one push-up at a time. I started with 20 and the next day did 21. The day after I did 22, then 23, and 24. I kept adding one more each day. This compounding effect led to the ability to do 100 or more a day. Not all at once, but 15-25 in a set. Think about that. Think about that concept of one a day. If you’re going to run or walk for 10 minutes. The next day try 11, then the next day 12, and so on.
This “one a day” mindset will help you to continue to add to what you’re doing without feeling a great change in the work or the habits you have.
Keep rolling friends, and keep surviving and thriving and keep adding those little things that you want to accomplish each and every day. Remember, it is the start that stops most people. #survivethrive
