I spent a wonderful day in New York City with my daughter Claire. It was her 18th birthday and we went to see “& Juliet” on Broadway. The whole day was just perfect. The show was fantastic and we highly recommend it.
Without giving away too much of the show, there was a lot of banter and debate between William Shakespeare and his wife during the show. She wanted to rewrite the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet and wanted to make it her own. He didn’t want to change it. They fought back and forth throughout the play, adding a lot of twists and turns. They were also constantly grabbing a quill back and forth from each other. As the plan unfolded, it appeared on stage. It was an awesome story of love, relationships, and drama.
As we were driving home, we discussed many aspects of the play. The one that kept coming to my mind was that we all have our own quill. We can write our own story. It was true that our teachers told us that we could do anything and be anything we wanted to be.
In the end, the show went back and forth over who would write the play’s outcome. In our own lives, we each have our own quill. Yes, there are those we are accountable to and those who help us make our decisions, but in the end, we have the quill in our hands and the passions in our hearts. We can each design the outcome of our own stories.

If you haven’t been to a Broadway show, I know it’s a financial commitment, but man, the shows are incredible! I highly recommend & Juliet and you too, will be singing along to the songs!
