Success is in your Hand- 5 keys to success!
Do you need a simple reminder of simple steps that can help you become a success? Just look at your hand!
Thumb– It is common place in our culture to see the emoji of a thumb to symbolize that we like something. In ancient Rome, a thumbs up literally would save a gladiator’s life. I think we can agree that throughout time the thumb has symbolized some sort of enthusiasm. The American essayist, Ralph Waldo Emerson has been quoted as saying, “Nothing great was ever accomplished without enthusiasm.” Vince Lombardi told his Green Bay Packers, “If you are not fired with enthusiasm, you will be fired with enthusiasm.” Don’t forget, “Time flies when you are having fun.” I have no doubt that having enthusiasm and passion for what you do will improve your life.
Index finger, AKA pointer finger– In this life, you need to know where you are going if you want to achieve your goals. We need direction or a plan. The most powerful locomotive won’t go anywhere if it doesn’t have tracks. When Yogi Berra’s wife told him that he was lost, he quipped, “Yeah, but we are making great time.” That is funny but really an example of just spinning your wheels. It is important to plan your work and then work your plan.
Middle finger– I am pretty sure you don’t need a reminder of what that means. Dr. Rob Gilbert has encouraged people for over 30 years to “Act as if it were impossible to fail.” If you give any endeavor everything that you have, you will have no regrets. The next time doubt creeps into your mind or you want to give up, it is time to give yourself the finger as a reminder to go for it.
Ring finger– The ring is a symbol of no beginning or end. I had two great examples of dedicated couples in my life. My uncle was married to his wife for 75 years, and my parents were married for 68 years. Marriage is just one example. If you want to be truly successful at anything, you must be dedicated to it. Once you make a commitment to something, stick to it. To what will you be dedicated?
Pinky finger– Don’t forget the little things. Success requires attention to the details. Once you know what you want in life, you need to establish the small steps that you need to take each day to reach your destination.
