I wear orthotics. When I refereed college basketball throughout the 2000s and 2010s, I had custom-made orthotics that really helped protect my feet and joints. Since I’ve started wearing them, I can’t go back. I don’t wear the custom maids anymore, but I’ve tried some different, less expensive brands, and they’re doing just fine.
After a morning run one day, I took my sneakers off, and I noticed a saying on the heel of the orthotics. “Expect miracles.” Miracles are things that rarely ever happen, if they ever happen at all. Miracles aren’t something that are easy to come by.

It should say, expect a strong routine, or expect a great process. Something like running or exercising is a process. It’s a desire. It is an intentional act that one chooses to do. When you get on a successful routine, and you can compound what you are doing, you will grow. It’s not a miracle. You shouldn’t expect miracles. You should expect to consistently work hard, show up and do good things for other people, and good things will happen to you.
I’ve always been bothered by the term overnight sensation or overnight success. That person who became a success had been working at it for years but finally might have been noticed. I wrote my blog and podcast for at least two years before anybody read or listened.
Don’t expect miracles, expect a process or routine that will get you to where you want to go! If I can help you in any way, don’t hesitate to reach out at @AndrewMarotta21 on Twitter or via email at andrewmarottallc@gmail.com.

Although I totally agree with your perception of success, I see the “miracle” mentality as a powerful context for all that is. Living in awe of existence frees us to perform with high expectations. The harder and smarter we work, the more miracles we experience. Optimism is a miracle mindset. Although a more pragmatic belief system may produce success, the context is rooted in a very limited reality. We are capable of miracles if we believe that they happen around us all the time. Have witnessed one-legged wrestlers win national championships, autistic kids performing genius math work, I saw a missile that would have killed me misfire, I had a missile explode next to me and I was not injured. I think life is full of miracles if we let ourselves experience them as miracles.
