I love hearing something new that inspires me. Whether it’s a movie, a book, or like this last one on my podcast. I’m so blessed and fortunate to meet amazing guests through the #ELB podcast.
I was recently chatting with Darin Beckwith and Candiss Bennett from Dawson Educational Service Cooperative in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, on the #ELB podcast. Darin was telling me a story about his old coffee cup. He was giving an example about when people would tease him about his old coffee cup. They’d ask what was inside it, and he’d say it’s a heart effect. People‘s heads would tilt and say what? Yes, it’s a heart effect! It’s an old mug, but it was made with heart. A former student had given it to him eight years ago, and he never wanted to throw it out because it was special to him. It was a memory. A memory of something from his past, a reminder of where he made a positive impact on another person.
I changed offices this year and as we were packing up, my office mate kept saying we’ll throw this out and we can throw that out. Quite often, I said no! They would ask why, and I would share that it was from a student or a student made it for me, etc. So while I tried to keep my office decluttered, I certainly made sure I held onto some of those heart effects.
What are some of your most special heart effects? Something that someone did for you, or something you did for somebody else. Those are the best memories. May you collect many on your journey.
