I spent some time on the Eastern Shore of Maryland (about 45 minutes east of Baltimore), back over the Easter weekend. It was a beautiful spring weekend with sunny blue skies and warm temperatures.
Each morning, I brewed some great coffee and jumped into the kayak with the book Unreasonable Hospitality. The water was crystal clear and calm. The birds were chirping, and there were no other people around.
It was so calm and relaxing, my brain began to flood with thoughts. In the still, in the quiet, my brain would come alive. Who are the most important people in my life? What are the things that I really want to do? What are the things that should stop doing? It was beautiful, calming, and energizing to just sit quietly with myself.

It also made me think that I don’t do this enough when I’m home. I am always on the go, go, go, and thinking about what is next, next, next. It reminded me of the importance of stopping, being still, writing down my thoughts, and thinking about what is most important in my life.
My latest book is called The Magic Acronyms, Formulas, and Impactful Stories of Leadership, a dedication to the amazing Dr. Rob Gilbert and Success Hotline. Dr. Gilbert has reminded me over and over and over that the important thing is to make the important thing, the important thing. Sitting still also reminded me of this point.
May you make time in your life to sit still with your thoughts, your hopes, your dreams, your goals, and the most important things and people in your life!

Keep surviving and thriving, friends!

Thank You this is very true and a beautiful reminder to take time by ourself. My pastor in church on Mother’s Day also reminded us that if we sit quietly and meditate the Holy Spirit will come to join us.
